Khmer Bitter Gourd Soup
This week’s video is very popular and easy to make local Khmer dish. The Bitter Gourd, sometimes called Bitter Melon (scientific name “Momordica charantia”), is a unique vegetable/fruit full of vitamins and minerals and often used in traditional medicine. It is said to be the most bitter of all fruits & vegetables, and is very popular all over South East Asia. Veasna’s recipe learnt in the provinces is very straightforward and easy to follow, and can be easily made into a soup with the broth.

 

STUFFED BITTER GOURD (or Bitter Melon) WITH PORK & MUSHROOM
ស្ងោរម្រះផ្សិតសាច់ជ្រូក

 

Ingredients
Pork – 300g
Bitter Gourd (Bitter Melon) – 500g
Mushroom – 200g
Spring Onion – 4
Salt – 1 tsp
Pepper – 1 tsp
Sugar – 2 tsp
Stock – 2 tsp
គ្រឿងផ្សំ
សាច់ជ្រូក – 300g
ម្រះ – 500g
ផ្សិត – 200g
ខ្ទឹមម៉្យាងដើមតូច – 4
អំបិល – 1 tsp
ម្រេច – 1 tsp
ស្ករ – 2 tsp
ម្សៅសាច់មាន – 2 tsp
